Greenseason with Go2Similan diving & Snorkeling Center

Green Season in Khao Lak

Liveaboard around Phi Phi Island, Hin Daeng, Hin Muang and Koh Haa.

Hin Daeng

Some 40 nautical miles South of the Phi Phi Islands lies one of the best dive sites in Thailand. Just breaking the surface, Hin Daeng is a huge dive site with depths down to well below normal recreational limits. The South West side drops to over 60m, creating a steep wall of soft corals - leopard sharks are often seen in this area, and keep an eye out for whalesharks or manta rays. The East side has the best soft coral growth and two ridges that slope gently into deeper water. Pelagic fish such as jacks hang out close to the rock. In shallower areas moray eels are commonly found hiding in cracks in the rock face. Hin Daeng is also good for critters such as nudibranchs, cowrie shells and various species of shrimps.

Hin Muang

Hin Muang is a long rocky ridge just a few hundred metres from Hin Daeng with it's top at a depth of
8-9m and it's bottom at 60-70m. It is actually connected to Hin Daeng, but the depth prohibits a dive
between the two. Currents can sweep quite strongly over the ridge, but you can always stay on the
sheltered side. The surface of Hin Muang is covered in purple soft corals and anemones and swarms
of tiny silversides are constantly under attack from predators such as jacks and trevallies. Leopard
sharks are common and whale sharks are also seen here. Even if you don't see a "big fish",
Hin Muang is a beautiful sight with it's colourful corals and steep walls.

Koh Haa

Koh Ha lies between Phi Phi and Hin Daeng, close to Koh Lanta. There are 5 small islands
(Ha is Thai for five) with several dive possibilities. The best is on Koh Ha Yai where you find two
enormous caverns with their entrance at 10-14m depth. A dive is best started on the reef to the West
of the caverns, where there are some nice coral heads and fields of sea whips down to a depth of
20-25m. The caverns, though are the highlight. You can surface inside and see large stalactites
hanging over your head. The light coming into the caverns makes for some beautiful photographs.
At the back of the East cavern is a small hole leading to a tunnel some 25m long, ending in a chamber.
This should only be attempted by divers with appropriate training and equipment.

Phi Phi Islands (Bida Nok & Bida Nai

This two three star dive sites are two large outcrops directly south of Phi Phi Ley. The prime two spots in the southwest section, where large rocks form a mountainous terrain, featuring
walls that drop to elevated ledges. There are many Gorgonian Sea Fans, Sea Whips and colorful Soft
Corals. Lots of Bearded Scorpion Fish disguise themselves amid the rocks, and various species of
Lion Fish hover between. Varying sizes and species of colorful Parrotfish and Wrasse, along with
large shoals of Moorish Idols, seem to be at all depths. The higher ledges have numerous
Sea Anemones well populated by Clownfish. On top of all this you can very often find Leopard Sharks
over the sand and various Blennies and Gobies. Even Manta Rays and Whale Sharks are often
found here!

Diving & Snorkeling day trips to Phuket

Racha Yai.
is the nearest of Phuket diving sites and offers local year around scuba diving in Thailand.
The beautiful and shallow bays of Racha Yai are known for both clear water and colorful coral formations.
All dive sites at Racha Yai are suitable for both scuba divers and snorkelers on holiday in Phuket. The best diving is off the east coast where the current a bit stronger. And you’ll be diving along sloping rocks that is covered with colourful hard corals and large schools of tropical fish.

Racha Noi.
a bit further south is a very popular dive site amongst scuba divers coming to Phuket. In general you’ll find greater depths and the currents can be a bit stronger. Racha Noi south tip, which is only for experienced divers, offers huge boulders and a good chance to see manta rays, eagle rays and other pelagic marine life. On the northern tip of Racha Noi you'll find several bays with sloping coral reefs, rocks and boulders and some great wall diving. When diving at Racha Noi, you should always look out for larger marine life like black tip reef sharks, leopard sharks, eagle and manta rays.

The King Cruiser.
was carrying holiday passengers from Phuket to Phi Phi islands when she sank on the 4th May 1997. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.
This is more of an advanced dive due to the depth and the often strong currents. The propellers rest at 30 metres depths. The most interesting part of the wreck is areas around the passenger decks between 18 and 24 metres. Over the last couple of years the wreck has started to break up and penetration is not recommended anymore. However, the King Cruiser Wreck is still a quite dramatic dive, especially if you haven’t dived a wreck before.

Shark Point.
which means shark rock in Thai gets its name from the common sighting of Leopard Sharks found resting on the seabed. Seen by many as one of the best dive sites in this area of Thailand, Shark Point rarely leaves divers disappointed. The dive site actually consists of three dive sites and only one of the three pinnacles breaks the surface. All three range between 20 - 30 meters at its deepest and we normally dive pinnacle one and pinnacle two.
Besides having some of the best marine life you’ll also find many purple and pink soft corals that compete for limited space on this incredibly healthy dive site.

Koh Doc Mai.
is a large rock just an hour from Phuket. Steep walls dropping down to 30 meters and one of the best places to spot whale sharks. You also have the best macro life around with frog fish, sea horse and a great variation of nudibranchs. It can be hard to choose which photo lens you should be using at this scuba dive sites.
